Byron Johnson

Director, Kershaw County Adult Education

It is a pleasure and an honor to serve as the Director of Kershaw County Adult Education. I am a proud graduate of Camden High School (CHS) and it is truly a blessing to return to serve my community in this capacity. Upon graduating from CHS, I attended the College of Charleston, where I earned a BS in Accounting and Business Administration. Upon graduation, I began my career in education in Charleston County School District, where I taught middle school for five years before becoming a Teacher Coach. While teaching, I returned to graduate school and received a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University and a Master of Technology Education from Lesley University. I returned home in 2007 to become an Assistant Principal at CHS and most recently served as Principal at Camden Middle School from 2012 to 2022.

Aside from school, I am very lucky to have a wonderful wife, Sherri, an educator, and two sons Jordan and Jaden. I truly believe in the ability of everyone to learn if given appropriate support, and I encourage students to make every day a great day because the choice is truly theirs.

Bridgett Bailey

Bridgett Bailey

Program Coordinator

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences and a Master of Arts in Counseling.  In addition, I am certified as a Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF).  I began working for Kershaw County Adult Education in 2012.  Prior to coming to Kershaw County, I taught in North Carolina at Coastal Carolina Community College.  I also taught at University of Phoenix/Columbia Campus and managed the Enrollment Division for National Defense Accounts.  I have two grown sons who graduated from KCSD schools.

I thoroughly enjoy working with our adult education students.  We have the best job because we get to help students from all walks of life and all areas of the county.  I get to work with each of the high schools in a collaborative effort to improve outcomes for our district's students.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family or running.  I am also a member of the South Carolina Adult and Community Educators (SCAACE) Board.
